Release Date: 15/03/2010
SEROCEE, born Jerome Thompson in Small Heath Birmingham, came to prominence in 2006 when he released his debut single "Life". Since then, he has featured on projects with Basement Jaxx, MJ Cole, Zed Bias, Toddla T, South Rakka’s Crew. He has been performing world-wide supporting acts such as Public Enemy, The Roots and Busta Rhymes.
Set for a deserved UK digital release, the excellent "Badeng" was not only written, produced and recorded by Serocee, Urban Monk and Jawbone Jeremiah, but also skillfully mastered at the world famous NLT Studio’s . This infectious track blends Electro, Hip Hop, Funky House and Dancehall to provide a fresh fun perspective to the current music scene. The remix comes from the legendary DJ & producer MJ Cole, who caters for the electro bashment crowd with a truly amazing twist to an already captivating track.
When asked about his music and which specific genre the song belongs to, Serocee reflects "This is party music for party people reflecting the melting pot of cultures we have in the UK. It had been said that some people couldn’t understand the words, some of the time, so I decided to switch it up and that's really where the idea behind "Badeng" began. The track was inspired by the onset of summer and traces the sprightly Carnival vibe as it slowly builds and grows into a vibrant fresh dance floor sound. Ultimately it's a party track for people who enjoy music".
This single is already receiving regular spins on BBC Radio1, 1xtra, Kiss FM, and other stations right across the UK. DJ’s Annie Mac, Ras Kwame & Toddla T have been giving the single solid rotation and good reviews and this momentum has already seen Serocee invited to The BBC Studios at Maida Vale to perform the track live.
This single is set to be one of the most original and popular underground hits of the year.
